Nina Colosi is the Founder and Creative Director of Streaming Museum, launched in New York City in 2008 at the cusp of a new wave of expansion of the internet, screen culture and mobile devices. It was conceived as a public art experiment to use technology to produce and present programs of international arts and visionary ideas in public spaces and cultural centers on 7 continents and StreamingMuseum.org. The experiment developed, and over the years the museum’s programs have reached millions from North Pole to South Pole, world cities to remote locations.
The museum’s arts programs have promoted the culture, international relations, historic commemoration, and tourism of countries, and have given visibility to foundations and brands that support the arts.
A culmination of concepts that drive Streaming Museum is presented in A View From The Cloud — a multi-year international touring project of art and conversation with multi-disciplinary experts. It examines how art and technology sharpen how we see the world and create innovations that advance humanitarian objectives and the UN Sustainable Development Goals. The program is co-produced with World Council of Peoples for the United Nations (WCPUN). Colosi co-produced with WCPUN, a special UN 75th anniversary edition of their Centerpoint Now publication.
Previously, Colosi had produced and curated The Project Room for New Media and Performing Arts at Chelsea Art Museum in New York City (2003-2010) and Digital Art @Google, an exhibition and public program series at Google’s New York City headquarters.
Since 2001 she has also produced exhibitions of benchmark new media art and cultural and historic relevance, and participated in conferences in Hong Kong, NY, Moscow, Madrid, Buenos Aires, Dubai, Montreal, Berlin and other cities. Streaming Museum has been featured in professional international publications.
In her early career Colosi was an award winning electronic music composer after receiving a Master degree in piano from Manhattan School of Music in NYC as a student of Seymour Lipkin. Postgraduate she studied film and TV production at Fairfield University. She works with young students to develop their technical skills, repertoire and original works at the piano, and connect music to their experiences of the world around them.
