As part of Streaming Museum’s annual invitation by the MUTEK Montréal Festival to interview their featured artists, we've been highlighting creators who resonate with our views about the interconnected world. Pierre-Luc Lecours and Ida Toninato exemplify this as they immerse listeners in their album and performance of “Homeostasis” that immerses listeners in the dynamic equilibrium between natural systems that sustain themselves through self-regulating processes, and human survival that depends on operating within those limits.

Lecours and Toninato bring together the acoustic and electronic worlds through the encounter of baritone saxophone, modular synthesizer, and real-time video generation. Their work is influenced by the concepts of balance, ecology, and the equilibrium found in the Fibonacci sequence, they've explored the intersection of nature and humanity in their second full-length performance, "Homeostasis."

The audience was"blown away" by "some of the best music ever" at their performance of at Société des Arts Technologiques during the MUTEK Montreal Festival in September 2025. The artists act as components of a larger system, with video projection and lighting and images and sounds that continuously recalibrate one another, renewing their points of connection. This ongoing process of creating and disrupting balance allows both performers and audience to expand their perception of the on-stage systems.

Harnessing the full spectrum of their sonic encounter and generating a continuous flow

of intensity in dialogue with the visual content, Toninato and Lecours become a

powerful entity—at times merging, at times opposing their sounds—as they engage in a

search for equilibrium within themselves, between each other, and with their

environment.
